Protect the process before solids become a problem
Strainers remove unwanted solid particles from process fluids before those particles reach pumps, heat exchangers, membrane systems, cleaning devices or other sensitive equipment. Selection depends on particle size, required filtration degree, flow, pressure drop, product properties, connection standard, cleanability and the installed equipment configuration.
Coarse, slot, inline and basket-style strainers

LKVF Coarse Strainer
Designed to remove coarse particles from liquid streams and protect pumps, membrane filtration and other sensitive equipment. Alfa Laval specifies the family for approximately 1–3 mm particle removal.
LKSF Slot Strainer
Hygienic slot strainer for basic and finer filtration duties. LKSF-BL and LKSF-CL configurations use removable elements, with filtration degree adjusted by changing the element.
LKIF Inline Strainer
Inline hygienic strainer installed directly in process lines to remove particles and impurities while protecting pumps and other sensitive downstream equipment.
Mainstream® Filter / Strainer
Basket-style side-entry system for higher-flow process streams. Depending on configuration it can use reusable strainer media or disposable filter media.
Match the complete installed configuration
Confirm the required perforation, slot or media rating. A coarse 1–3 mm duty is fundamentally different from a fine slot-filtration requirement.
Weld ends, Clamp, SMS, DS, IDF, BS and other connection standards must be checked against the installed line.
Confirm stainless-steel grade, elastomer and surface requirements for the actual product and sanitation chemistry.
Strainer area and element geometry should be sized for required throughput without excessive pressure loss.
Consider element removal, manual cleaning, reverse-flow flushing or discharge arrangements according to the selected strainer family.
For replacement projects, use the existing item number whenever available rather than selecting from family name or nominal size alone.
