How a Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger Works

A brazed plate heat exchanger consists of a stack of formed metal plates joined into a compact heat-transfer block. The plate pattern creates separate alternating channels for the hot and cold media. Heat passes through the plate walls from one circuit to the other while the fluids remain physically separated.

1 Hot Medium Enters The hotter fluid is distributed through one set of alternating channels.
2 Cold Medium Enters The colder fluid flows through the adjacent channels in a separate circuit.
3 Heat Transfers Thermal energy passes across the plate surface between the two media.
4 Media Leave Separately Both streams exit at changed temperatures without direct mixing.
