Industrial Pressure Reducing Valves

Industrial pressure reducing valves regulate downstream pressure to a pre-set value, ensuring stable and safe operation in steam, compressed air and liquid systems. Our range includes direct-acting and pilot-operated reducing valves for low, medium and large capacity applications.

Application overview

Pressure reducing valves maintain constant downstream pressure regardless of inlet pressure fluctuations or changes in flow demand. They are commonly used on steam distribution systems, compressed air networks, and utility/process liquid lines to stabilize operating conditions and protect equipment.

How pressure reduction works

  • The valve senses downstream pressure and modulates the opening to maintain the set value.
  • Direct-acting types use diaphragm/bellows + spring directly on the valve element.
  • Pilot-operated types use a pilot stage controlling the main diaphragm for higher stability.
  • Better control reduces wear, improves safety and supports stable production conditions.

Typical uses

  • Steam headers and local steam pressure control
  • Compressed air pressure regulation at equipment points
  • Liquid utility pressure reduction
  • Surplussing / relief-style operation (selected models)

Selection guide

For correct sizing and product selection, please send the information below. We will propose the suitable reducing valve type and configuration.

Medium

Steam, compressed air, or liquid. If steam: indicate saturated/clean steam requirements.

Inlet / outlet pressure

Provide normal inlet pressure range and required downstream set pressure (bar).

Flow demand

Required flow rate and whether demand varies significantly (load profile).

Connection & size

Threaded (BSP/NPT/ISO7-Rp) or flanged EN 1092; nominal size DN / inch.

Temperature

Operating temperature (and max possible). Confirm compatibility with selected valve series.

Accuracy needs

If very stable downstream pressure is required with minimal offset, pilot-operated DP27 is preferred.

* For steam service, correct installation and condensate management are important for valve performance and lifetime.

FAQ

Quick answers to common questions about industrial pressure reducing valves.

What is the difference between direct-acting and pilot-operated reducing valves?

Direct-acting valves regulate with a spring/diaphragm or bellows directly moving the valve element. Pilot-operated valves use a pilot stage controlling the main diaphragm, achieving higher accuracy and lower offset under changing flow conditions.

Which series is best when I need very stable downstream pressure?

DP27 (pilot operated) is designed for high accuracy with virtually no offset between no-load and full-load conditions, making it a strong choice for demanding control requirements.

Can any of these be used as a surplussing valve?

DRV7 and DP27 are described as suitable for surplussing valve operation depending on system design and application. Share your target function and conditions and we will confirm the best configuration.

Which one should I use for liquids?

LRV2 is specified for liquid applications and is supplied with a red brass body and lower maximum temperature rating. Please confirm your liquid type, temperature, and pressure to validate selection.
